Doctoral human resources (PhD students, PD)

The development of innovation-creating human resources is not achieved simply through collaborative activities between universities and industries. Its implementation requires reform of the individual's consciousness along with a high level of expertise, advanced thinking, planning, and practical skills, while taking into account its relevance to society.

In this program, the consortium consists of three universities and one institute, namely, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, International Christian University, Waseda University, and the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology. Seeking highly expert doctoral and post-doctoral students from each institution, the objective is to implement educational programs that reflect industrial and other societal needs, and develop excellent human resources with the ability to innovate technology, create industry, and propose social policies. Additionally, long-term internships at companies and research institutions in Japan and overseas are offered.

●Step 1: Preparation

1) Motivation for Doctoral Course studies aiming for human resources in international advanced research
2) Mental preparedness for innovation advancement by doctoral human resources
3) Guidelines education for innovation advancement

● Step 2: Internship (2 consecutive months or longer)

Clarify specific research project via discussion with internship host, and learn elements necessary for innovation in real world through practical training at company.

Universities (excluding universities in Japan, as general rule)
Independent administrative corporations
Public agencies
Nonprofit organizations
International organizations, etc

● Step 3: Follow-up

1) Receive feedback from external judge at debriefing meeting (February or March).
2) Receive feedback from external judge at follow-up meeting, and receive advice about career development at career seminar.
