Message from the Dean
The Diversity of Agriculture Will Give Rise to the Creativity Needed to Inspire the Next Generation
The Institute of Agriculture at Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology is composed of faculty members from the university’s agricultural fields and is dedicated to advancing agricultural science and contributing to society through advanced academic research. The Institute actively promotes cutting-edge research and education.
Modern society faces a wide range of challenges, including food security, climate change, biodiversity conservation, sustainable resource utilization, and the spread of infectious diseases. Through its research activities, the Institute of Agriculture seeks to provide scientific approaches to these pressing issues and explore the future shape of society.
The Institute engages in research across a broad spectrum of fields related to agriculture, environmental science, and life sciences. In collaboration with research institutions and industries both domestically and internationally, we are committed to creating innovative technologies and knowledge aimed at solving social challenges. From fundamental to applied research, we pursue diverse and interdisciplinary approaches — integrating advanced AI and information and communication technologies, and fostering collaboration across disciplines — all with the goal of achieving a sustainable society.
In addition, the Institute places great emphasis on nurturing the next generation of researchers. Through graduate education, particularly in doctoral programs, we are fostering highly skilled professionals with advanced expertise and a global perspective, capable of contributing to the resolution of societal issues.
It is our mission to expand the possibilities of future agricultural science and to contribute to society through the creation and sharing of knowledge, as well as through advanced research and the development of professionals.
