TUAT COVID-19 Response Headquarter

TUAT Measures in Response to Declaration of COVID-19 State of Emergency for Tokyo, etc.

The Japanese government decided to declare another "State of Emergency in Response to the Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)" for Tokyo, etc. which will be effective from Monday, July 12 to Sunday, August 22; and to extend a “Quasi-State of Emergency” for Tokyo’s neighboring prefectures for the time being. Currently, there are concerns that the COVID-19 cases are on the rise again around Tokyo. For this reason, we ask all students to continue to cooperate in preventing the virus spread by raising awareness on “protecting yourself from infection and preventing infection transmission to others” and by paying attention to the following points.

  • Some lectures will be conducted online. For lectures that are conducted face-to-face, they will be carried out after thorough infection prevention measures are taken. However, please follow the policies of the Faculty/Graduate School you belong to.
  • If there are students who wish to avoid commuting to university, etc. due to concerns on infection transmission, we will take account of their situation if possible. Please contact the education/student life committee or your supervisor/advising professor.
  • At each campus, infection prevention measures are taken and we are working to create a safe environment for study and research, where the students and researchers can pursue their study and research without much concern about the infection transmission, etc. Please cooperate in wearing masks, cleaning your hands and disinfecting your desks with alcohol, etc.
  • We are currently working to commence workplace group vaccination for TUAT students and staff. However, if you have other opportunities to get vaccinated earlier than this by vaccination offered by the local government of your residential area or large-scale vaccination offered by the national government, please make use of them as well.
  • As we will be frequently posting up-to-date information on how the lectures or events, etc. will be held at TUAT, please check the Google Classroom, Web Bulletin Board for students and TUAT website, etc.
  • Laboratory activities can be carried out after thorough infection prevention measures are taken. However, please ensure to follow the policies of the Faculty/Graduate School you belong to.
  • Take actions in your daily life to prevent the virus spread such as by taking care of your physical condition, hand washing and wearing masks. If you feel unwell, please consult a doctor, etc., and do not attend university nor go outside the house/residence.
  • Keep social distancing and refrain from talking without a mask in various situations such as attending lectures, travelling around the campuses, having lunch and waiting for your next lecture.
  • Please refrain from going out unless absolutely necessary and cooperate in preventing the spread of the virus. In particular, refrain from travelling across prefectures.
  • About extra-curricular activities, please refer to “緊急事態宣言の解除に伴うサークル活動の再開について” (Resuming of extra-curricular activities due to lifting of the state of emergency) dated July 9, 2021.
  • Please take great care and attention not to contract the virus from off-campus activities (including part-time jobs and volunteer activities).
  • Refrain from gathering to eat or drink with others regardless of whether they belong to TUAT or not; OR whether it is in a restaurant or in someone’s private house/residence, etc.
  • Please try to refrain from going on business trips even inside Japan unless absolutely necessary. If the trip is necessary, please take the COVID-19 situation of your business trip destination into consideration and proceed with the trip.
  • In general, students’ overseas trips (business trips, etc.) requested by a university will not be approved. However, there is a possibility that it may be permitted according to the notification of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan dated June 15, 2021, with the following condition. If the trip is a one-year overseas dispatch (with actual staying period of 9 months or longer in a foreign country) to participate in a study abroad program based on an inter-university cooperation agreement, etc., and the dispatch will be from or after August 2021. Please contact the Student Support Office, etc. of the Faculty or Graduate School you belong to well in advance of planning the trip.
  • If you are confirmed with COVID-19, taken a PCR test or identified as a Close Contact to a COVID-19 positive individual, immediately report it to the University.
  • Please pay close attention to the information and guidelines from the national and local governments and act according to the information, etc. provided by them.
  • We will make a new announcement if there is any change to the current status such as the government extends or lifts the state of emergency.
  • If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Student Support Office, etc. of the Faculty or Graduate School you belong to.
