TUAT has established International Houses, residential facilities for international students and foreign researchers, located adjacent to the Fuchu and Koganei campuses. In addition, international students (regular students, research students) of our university can also move into the Hitotsubashi University’s International Student House [Ikkyo-Ryo] in Kodaira City.

◆Important◆ Obligation to enroll in a fire insurance plan

International students (regular students and research students) who will reside in the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology International House or Hitotsubashi University’s International Student House [Ikkyo-Ryo] are required to enroll in fire insurance and submit the certificate of coverage. If enrollment in fire insurance cannot be confirmed after moving in, the permission to reside will be revoked.

About applications for occupancy (accepted at any time)

Application period

In principle, applications for occupancy are only accepted during the following periods. However, if you need to apply before the specified period due to unavoidable circumstances such as obtaining a visa or deciding on a school district for your family, you may apply earlier. Please enter the reason in the remarks section of the vacancy confirmation form and attach a statement of reason (free format) when applying.

International students (research students non-degree students excluding program students )

After approval by the steering committee of the department to which you belong and within three months before your intended enrollment date

Foreign researcher

After approval by the steering committee of the department to which the student belongs, and at least two months before the intended date of enrollment (or the intended date of acceptance for JSPS researchers)

How to apply

If you wish to apply, please follow the steps below.

(1) Check availability

Please use the form below to check availability.
You can check availability from five days prior to your application (excluding Saturdays, Sundays, national holidays, the founding anniversary, the New Year's holiday period, and the summer holidays).
If you check availability before then, we will provide you with the availability status at the time of reply for reference, but you will need to check availability again at least five days before your application.

(2) Submitting an application form

If you receive a response from Student Affairs Section, Educational Affairs Office that there is a vacancy as a result of the vacancy check, please fill out the International House Occupancy Permit Application Form and make a formal application to the person in charge of your department. (If there are no vacancies, you cannot apply.) )

(3) Occupancy permit

Once the procedure is completed, we will issue you a residence permit.

Available period of stay

The maximum period of stay permitted at one time is one year, and extensions are possible for up to two years.
If you wish to extend your stay, please reapply for a stay using the same procedure as described above, but no later than three to one month before your current stay expires.
However, please note that extensions may not be permitted depending on room availability.

Boarding fees, usage fees, etc.

The following table shows the boarding fees, researcher fees, and common service fees for international students.
Boarding fees (usage fees) and common service fees must be paid monthly.
If the occupancy period is less than 16 days, the common service fee will be prorated. (For more than 16 days, monthly amount.) )
The move-out expense reserve fund (reserve fund) must be paid at the time of moving in. When you move out, you will be refunded the amount of your reserve fund minus the cost of cleaning your room at the time of moving out.
If the move-in period is less than 90 days, there is no reserve fund, but the cost of cleaning the room will be collected separately when you move out.
In addition, utilities, fire insurance, and other necessary expenses must be borne by the tenant.
If the boarding fee, common expenses, etc. are revised, the revised fee will be applied.
