Personal Accident Insurance for Students Pursuing Education and Research (Gakkensai) 

Compensation for your own injuries
Accidents that occur during university classes, extracurricular activities, participation in various university events, or on campus, as well as accidents while commuting to and from university facilities

(Note) You will be given the application documents at the time of enrollment, so please complete the application process.

Membership

Application by those who have enrolled in April can be accepted from mid-March to mid-April, and application by those who entering in October is accepted from mid-September to mid-October. However, you can also enroll even after the academic year has begun.

Insurance  Premiums

Scope of accidents covered

The number of days of treatment covered and the amount of insurance money provided differs depending on when and where the accident occurred.

1. During classes
2. During university events
3. While in a university facility other than 1 or 2 above
4. During extracurricular activities
5. Commuting to university (special coverage for commuting risks)
6. Traveling between university's facilities (special coverage for commuting hazards)

Accident notification and insurance claims

If you are a victim of an accident, please notify the office in charge as soon as possible. Please note that if you do not notify the office within 30 days of the accident, insurance claims may not be paid.
The documents you need to submit will be explained to you when you notify us of the accident.

Liability Insurance coupled with "Gakkensai”

Compensation paid if a student is held responsible for causing an injury to another person or damaging another person’s property in Japan during a university class or event, or while traveling to or from either.

(Note 1) Joining this insurance is required when undertaking an internship, teaching practice, nursing care experience or other practical training.
(Note 2) Please contact the relevant administrative staff and receive instructions.

Membership

Students enrolled in the Personal Accident Insurance for Students Pursuing Education and Research (Gakkensai) may enroll in this program.
The insurance period is from April to March of the following year (a one-year period) for those enrolling in April, and from October to September of the following year (a one-year period) for those enrolling in October.　You can also enroll in the middle of the school year.

Insurance  Premiums

1 year: 340 yen (The premium will not change even if you join mid-year)

Targeted activities

This liability insurance applies only to domestic activities that are covered by Personal Accident Insurance for Students Pursuing Education and Research (Gakkensai).

Accident notification and insurance claims

If a student is involved in an accident, please notify the appropriate office staff.

(Note) For the above insurance, if you withdraw from a university or take a leave of absence for more than one year during the insurance period, the difference in premiums will be refunded upon request.
