Through this program, we aim to nurture individuals who:
- Understand the background of the issues facing ASEAN, possess broad knowledge and internationally relevant expertise, and are motivated and capable of proactively addressing these challenges.
- Respect and are eager to learn not only their own culture but also the cultures of their counterparts, demonstrating a willingness and ability to foster mutual understanding.
- Have strong language skills, logical thinking ability, and a broad, integrated perspective, and who can lead consensus-building efforts with a cooperative mindset.
What is the AIMS Program? (ASEAN International Mobility for Student Program)
The AIMS Program is a student exchange initiative designed for undergraduate students within the ASEAN region, established to promote regional integration among ASEAN member states. Since 2013, Japan has also participated in the program.
Currently, nine countries are participating in the AIMS Program: Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Brunei, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with a strong focus on the ASEAN region.
Governments of participating countries select eligible higher education institutions (HEIs) to take part in the AIMS Program and provide financial support—such as scholarships—for students they send abroad through the program.
