September 3, 2026

On August 27, Hirotaka Saito Special Mission Trustee for Future Strategy and Reform, Yuko Takuma, Executive Advisor to the President and others visited the University of Electro-Communications and exchanged views with Director Yutaka Sakaguchi (Research Strategy), Vice-President Eriko Watanabe (Research), Professor Tetsuo Kan (Deputy Director of the Research Facilities Center), and others regarding the possibility of collaboration to strengthen the research base going forward.
This time, we shared the status of efforts and recognition of challenges in strengthening the research infrastructure, including sharing research facilities between the two universities, training and utilizing technical support personnel, and management and utilization of research data. Additionally, we exchanged opinions on the future direction of university-research institution collaboration in the Tama region and the possibility of further strengthening collaboration through shared research facilities, and agreed to continue discussions going forward.
After the exchange of opinions, we toured the Research Equipment Center, including the helium liquefaction facility, and engaged in lively Q&A sessions about the equipment we own, as well as its management and usage.
Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology and the University of Electro-Communications will continue to strive to further enhance the research environment and strengthen research capabilities through close inter-university collaboration.
