Faculty of Engineering About the Comprehensive Selection SAIL Entrance Exam
We would like to introduce the "SAIL Entrance Exam", a comprehensive selection process for the Faculty of Faculty of Engineering.
Purpose of SAIL Entrance Examination
At our university, we have independently developed and implemented the "SAIL Program," an educational program designed to guide motivated students who excel in science and mathematics and possess the talent to solve problems into outstanding researchers and professionals.
To select students suitable for the SAIL program in Faculty of Engineering Department of Biotechnology and Life Science in life engineering, in Department of Biomedical Engineering biomedical engineering, in Department of Applied Physics and Chemical Engineering focusing on natural sciences in physics and chemistry, in Department of Mechanical Systems Engineering mechanical systems engineering and natural sciences, and in Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in information engineering and electrical and electronic engineering, we conduct the SAIL entrance exam (comprehensive selection).
The SAIL entrance exam targets those who have proactively engaged in the above fields, exempting them from the Common University Entrance Test and individual tests related to subjects. Instead, comprehensive evaluation is conducted mainly based on reports on activity results, interview results, and research reports.
SAIL Program Philosophy
The SAIL program is aimed at high-potential high school students who want to study science and mathematics, and aims to develop the ability to go beyond existing frameworks, integrate and develop multiple fields, and pioneer new fields. The educational program includes four abilities necessary for students to set out as scientists and engineers (SAIL):
1. Study Ability
2. Analysis
3. Innovative Design
4. Logical Presentation
This is set as the first to third year of the bachelor's degree program, with the aim of cultivating talent that will be highly valued not only as researchers but also as innovative professionals in the industry.
Application Requirements
Those who meet all of the following criteria:
(1) Those who have excellent academic achievements
The Applicant Evaluation Form (Department of Biotechnology and Life Science, Department of Biomedical Engineering and Department of Applied Physics and Chemical Engineering submitted only by applicants) will be issued by the school principal and must be sealed, but there is no particular limit on the number of applicants who can be submitted for each school.
(2) Those who have a strong desire to study at the University of Department of Biotechnology and Life Science, Department of Biomedical Engineering, Department of Applied Physics and Chemical Engineering, Department of Mechanical Systems Engineering, or Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and make it their first choice.
(3) Those who can guarantee that they will enroll if they are accepted into the final school

| Selection Criteria | ① Do you have an interest in and curiosity about life sciences and their applications? ② Can you logically derive a conclusion based on experimental results and objective facts? ③ In the question-and-answer session, can you correctly understand the question and clearly communicate your own thoughts? |

| Second Selection | The student will be given a presentation on the contents of the special activity report and then interviewed, including a question-and-answer session, to comprehensively evaluate their basic science ability, logical thinking skills, and potential abilities. | |

Department of Biomedical Engineering

| Second Selection | An interview will be conducted, including a presentation on the contents of the special activities report and a question-and-answer session regarding its contents. This will comprehensively evaluate the applicant's understanding of the special activities, their logical reasoning, their basic academic abilities in physics (including basic physics) and mathematics, and their potential abilities related to science and engineering in general. | |

Department of Applied Physics and Chemical Engineering

| Second Selection | The candidate will be required to make a 10-minute presentation on the contents of his/her special activities report and then an interview including a 20-minute question-and-answer session on the contents of the report and presentation. This will allow the candidate to comprehensively evaluate his/her potential abilities in the natural sciences, including his/her understanding of special activities and logical reasoning. | |

This will comprehensively evaluate the applicant's potential abilities related to mechanical systems engineering and natural sciences, including their proactive approach to extracurricular activities, their ability to understand and process information logically, and their fundamental academic skills in mathematics and physics. | |

This will allow the students to comprehensively evaluate their potential abilities in information engineering and electrical and electronic engineering, including their understanding of the special activities and their logical reasoning. | |
