Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho) Honors Scholarship for Privately-Financed International Students

This is a scholarship program for self-financed international students run by the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO).

Monthly stipend Graduate students: 48,000 yen, Undergraduate students: 48,000 yen
Scholarship Period 12 months or 6 months

the recommendation slots at our university is as follows:

1. Reservation Program (Learn more)

(1) Students with excellent results from the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU) Undergraduate Students New first-year students
(2)  Selected by school under the pre-arrival admission system
(Graduate school recommendation slots)
Master's degree 
Doctorate (PhD)
New first-year students

2. Scholarship Slots Other Than Reservation Program (Learn more)

To receive the scholarship, you will need a "Student" residence status and a Japan Post Bank account.
New international students coming to Japan should make their travel plans early.

The procedure for obtaining a residence status must be completed before traveling, and opening an account after arriving in Japan may also take some time.
Please complete the procedures well in advance so that you can obtain your ID by April 1st if you are enrolling in April, and by October 1st if you are enrolling in October.

Local government/private scholarships

Private Scholarship [University Recommendation Required]

Students who wish to receive the scholarship should apply for registration in April (Spring/Summer semester) and October (Fall/Winter semester).
*The specific application schedule will be announced on the bulletin board of TUAT education system "Sirius".

Each faculty will conduct interviews and document screenings. After TUAT determines the recommendation rankings for the scholarships, students who meet the application requirements are recommended in order from the top-ranked applicants.

Private Scholarship [Free Application]

International students can apply directly to the Foundation.
