Even if you have reserved a scholarship, it does not mean that you have been selected to receive the scholarship.
You can receive the scholarship only if you follow the procedure and meet the eligibility requirements.
Please be aware that if there are any deficiencies in the documents you submit or if you do not meet the deadline, you will not be eligible to receive the scholarship even if you meet the eligibility requirements.

(1) Students with excellent results on the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU)

This program is aimed at self-financed international students who have achieved excellent results on the Examination for Japanese University Admission for International Students (EJU) and are newly enrolled as regular students at a Japanese university.
Those who have been accepted under this program are eligible to receive the scholarship if they enroll as a regular student at a university within the specified period after their reservation is confirmed, the university enrolled in recommends them to JASSO as a reserved student, and JASSO accepts them.

  To those who are reservation holders 

New students who have received a "Notice of Decision to Reservation for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) Honors Scholarship for International Students" from JASSO should complete the following procedures [before enrolling].

→Please report your enrollment to JASSO using the "Enrollment Report Form" on the above website.

Fiscal year 2026 (April admission) Report deadline: Friday, March 27, 2026

■ Submission of documents

Please submit either a PDF or a printed copy of the "Notice of Reservation for the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's Honors Scholarship for International Students" to the scholarship office at your university.

Submission deadline: (April enrollment) By March 31st (if it falls on a weekend, by the previous weekday)

*Those who submit the form will be informed of the application procedures after enrollment.

(2) Selected by school under the pre-arrival admission system (Graduate school recommendation slots)

This is a program to recommend students who will be enrolled in graduate school under our pre-arrival admission system (applicable to students who are residing overseas at the time of application).
Those who are eligible for this system will be notified by the university.

2. Scholarship Slots Other Than Reservation Program

Once JASSO has allocated the number of available slots, the university will notify eligible students who have pre-registered for private scholarships.

Students who wish to receive scholarships should apply for advance registration for private scholarships in April (first semester) and October (second semester).
