Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana visits TUAT

On February 26, 2018, Prof. Dr. Ebenezer Oduro Owusu, Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana, accompanied by Mr. Yoshikazu Tamura, President of the Japanese Association of Ghana, visited Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Liaison Office in Yokohama, and met with Director Dr. Mbuli Charles Boliko and Deputy Director Ms. Kae Mihara. TUAT’s Institute of Agriculture sent to this meeting Vice-Dean Prof. Dr. Atsushi Chitose, Prof. Dr. Masaaki Yamada and Researcher Dr. Shiho Kagami. The three parties confirmed further MOU-based collaboration with focus on an empirical research initiative of introducing Japanese-Brazilian agroforestry system to West Africa suffering from climate change.

After that, the Ghanaian visitors moved to Fuchu, and met with Dean of TUAT Institute of Agriculture, Prof. Dr. Kazuhiro Chiba. Based on the fruits of education and research exchange over the past 17 years, the two parties agreed on deepening mutual collaboration, involving FAO, World Bank and other international organizations. In addition, Dr. Owusu encouraged Ghanaian students studying at TUAT, and visited the laboratory of Professor Dr. Madoka Nakai for his interests in research cooperation.
