NEASFLD '97
North-East Asia Symposium and Field Workshop
on Landslide and Debris Flow
17-23 July, 1997
--- THREE GORGES LANDSLIDES ---
SUMMARY
-
This symposium was helded along the Yangtze River in Yichang (18 July),
and Chongqing (23 July). The main theme is landslides and debris flow in
Three Gorges. The route
map is here. Because the Yangtze River will be dammed
by Sanxia Dam in the end of 1997, this trip is also the last opportunity
to visit Sanxia Gorges.
-
The major visiting places include the Sanxia Gorges Dam construction site,
the Xintan Landslide which dammed one
third of the Yangtze river in 1985 and still active. The 200m high Lianziya
large rock-mass creep with anchor works and the Badong Landslide, which
has a high risk of failure to damming the Yangtze River and the monitoring
system is being constructed at present, also been investigated.
-
This symposium the fifth Symposium after 1987 (Xi'an-Lanzhou, China), 1989
(Kyoto-Tokyo-Tsukuba, Japan), 1991 Shanghai-Lanzhou, China, Ala-mata-Tushanbe,
C.I.S), and 1994 (Irkutzk C.I.S, Shenyang China, Seoul Korea).
