Machine Research Plant
The Machine Research Plant, which has a floor space of 651 m2, is an attached facility for students to conduct experiments and develop products. It also assists students and faculty with the production of devices for conducting research.
Thus, it plays a fundamental role in supporting the activities of research and education on the campus. Three instructors are in charge of maintaining the machine tools installed in the plant (33 machines of 15 kinds) and giving instruction and advice to users. Recently, a machining center (MC) and CNC multi-Functional lathe which can machine complex shapes efficiently and a welding machine which can work for any kind of metal were introduced.
Last years record of use, in terms of the total number of machine tools actually used, is as follows: 3,000 (Department of Mechanical Systems Engineering), 300 (other departments), and 150 (student clubs such as the Energy Lab Club, Robot Club, TUAT Formula, etc.)
The role of the Machine Research Plant is expanding as the need to machine hard materials, manufacture complex-shaped materials and process materials with high precision is remarkably increased.
