Gene Research Center

This institute was set up on the Fuchu campus in 1996 as a center for education and training in basic operational techniques in recombinant DNA technology, RI handling, and safety management. The laboratories have been prepared for P1, P2, P3, and RI genetic experiments.
The principal pieces of equipment are a DNA sequencer, a radio-active image analyzer, a nucleic acid date analyzer, a PCR gene amplifier, an ultracentrifuge, a scintillation counter, an electron microscope, an amino acid sequencer, and a particle gun. Training courses are open to both high school students and the general public. In addition, cooperative research with other universities and private enterprises is being promoted.
