The TUAT Task Force for Kabul University Support (for Afghanistan Rebuilding)
Exhibit to Commemorate Agreement Between Afghanistans Kabul University and TUAT
On May 20, 2002, TUAT concluded an agreement with Kabul University (KU) to provide support for higher education in Afghanistan. Based on ardent requests for human resource support in the areas of education and research expressed by KU professors, TUAT decided to invite Japanese government-sponsored exchange students and professors from KU. A TUAT delegation (consisting of Prof. Sadanari Mochizuki, Prof. Tadashi Hirasawa, Prof. Kiyoshi Shimada, and Prof. Kazuyoshi Taya) made a second visit to Kabul on November 3-11 to conduct on-site interviews of the candidates for this exchange program. TUAT ultimately decided to invite 10 international students and 10 short-term trainee professors to study in Japan.
The 10 short-term trainees and others connected with Kabul University arrived in Japan on January 29, 2003, and an exhibit was held at the Museum of Fiber Science and Technology to commemorate their arrival.
An exhibit of kilims (a textile of the Afghan nomads) was also held at the venue.
