Lifestyle-related diseases including cancer, osteoporosis, periodontal diseases, and metabolic syndrome as research contents and promote the development of therapeutic drugs and means of prevention by analyzing pathogenic mechanisms and clinical conditions of such diseases. There are many different types of research are conducted in this laboratory that are from genetic analysis to disease model animals while also focusing on genes, molecule, cells, and living bodies.

Investigation of the role of transcription factor in neoplastic proliferation and immunological activation of mast cells. This research is aiming to establish a molecular targeted therapy that controls proliferation and activation of immune cells as well as mast cells.

Currently conducting the screening of useful genes and research on new production, etc. of new and useful recombinant organisms. The process is done by colleting and analyzing many kinds of enviromental microorganism genomes, which mainly for unknown / difficult-to-culture microoganisms.In this research group they also developing a system that analyzes genetic sequence peculiarity of organisms. In addition, in the medical field, the development of systems to analyze the sequence specificity of gene possessed by the organism and diagnosis of disease susceptibility by (SNPs) to determine single nucleotide polymorphisms of disease-related genes. In the food field, applying these could make the gene classification system to check the false indication checking.

Carrying out the research of clarification or therapeutic drug for mental illness developmental disorders, jet lag, manic depression, dementia, and sleep disorders by elucidating the mechanism of the biological clock. Clarifying the mechanism of the "stomach clock" which is considered to set the biological clock through the timing of food consume. It will contribute to the discovery of food/nutrition -ingesting method, the causes of lifestyle-related disease which is suitable for preparing the biological rhythm.

In addition, this laboratory also make research on life style of middle-aged persons and the mechanism of prevention and treatment of lifestyle-related diseases and the effect of therapy exercise.
