The United graduate school of veterinary sciences (UGSVS), Gifu University, an independent 4 year doctoral course, was established at Gifu with the coorperation of 4 national universities (Obihiro University, Iwate University, Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology and Gifu University), consisting of 4 major chairs. This graduate school aims to train outstanding researchers and technologists with expert knowledge and advanced practical abilities who will contribute to the progress of veterinary science and bioscience. The UGSYS is organized with 4 departments of veterinary medicine, 4 attached veterinary hospitals of coorperating universities and Research Center of Protosoa Disease of Obihiro University. The students take advantage of using facilities available in all 4 cooperating universities. For a student with excellent grades, the term of course completion will be shortened to 3 years.
