The Ministry of Education enacted a cooperative research system between universities and communities in 1983. The object of the system is that a university, as a part of diversification of education and research at universities, is supposed "to admit cooperative private researchers and offer them a place to go for cooperative studies together with the university researchers." Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology was authorized in 1988 to establish the cooperative research center. The center's building was built in 1989, then extended in 1996 to have an area of 2,000 meter square. And "The liaison coordinator system" that ties between the seeds of research in our university and the needs of private companies was established in 2000, so we are going to promote the cooperative research between industry and academy positively. |
