GRADUATE SCHOOL
DIVISION OF CHEMICAL AND BIOLOGICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLGOY
This division is dedicated to the extended studies and
researches on various fields, including materials science and
biotlogical science as well as applied chemistry, that are based
on the chemistry. It consists of the followig four departments,
each of which has its own speciality in education and research in
addition to the fundamental common curriculum shared in this
division.
-
Department of Biotechnology
-
This department has a scientifically interesting research field,
including marine biotechnology, bioelectronics, cellular and
protein engineering. The research aim is mainly to analyze
the biofunction in molecular level for the engineering
application.
-
Department of Applied Chemistry
- In the graduate study, individual students are encouraged to acquire
advanced knowledge and technique of their interested subjects, while
conducting their own research in the field of chemical science and
thechnology. The department offers through its branches a variety of
research subjects, which range from the basic to the advanced areas of
applied chemistry. They include, for example, manipulation of atoms and
molecules for production of new materials and substances, understandings =
of
life processes by mimicking tiny part of them, and techniques to solve
environmental and energetical problems.=20
-
Department of Material Systems Engineering
- This department is concerned to the variety of organic
materials under the concept that the material consists of a
system composed of molecules. Its curriculum spans from
microscopic molecular structure to macroscopic material functions
in a systematic subject. The research of this department
includes various topics of developing new materials that have
electrical, optical, separation, and other intelligent functions.
-
Department of Chemical Engineering
-
This department is to educate students as specialists of chemical
engineering in the fields of molecular chemical engineering, separation
process engineering, functional catalyst engineering, chemical process
engineering, energy chemical engineering and environmental chemical
engineering. Chemical engineers graduated from this department have the
skills and expertise to make major contributions to the solution of
various problems which are the production of new materials, design of
new process and chemical equipment, conservation of energy and
resources, threats to the environment.
